We confess, Almighty God, that we have sinned against you in more ways than we can count. Forgive us for having ears that listen to gossip, slander, and lies, but not to your Word. Forgive us for having a heart to fulfill our meaningless desires, our indulgent longings, our carnal lusts, but not to please and obey you. Forgive us for having an eye that looks to our success, our praise, and our pride, but not to your glory. Blot out our sin and transgressions through the all-redeeming sacrifice of your beloved Son, and our Savior, Jesus Christ, whom we love and through whom we pray, Amen.

Father, forgive us for having yielded to temptation and given a foot-hold to our enemy and yours, Satan. Forgive us for having been fooled by the subtlety of the tempter and the pleasantness of sin, while ignoring the promises you have made to us as your people, which are better than anything anyone can offer. Help us to realize, O Lord, that sin is only pleasant for a short time, and that its fruit is bitter and lasts far longer than we wish to bear it. Grant, then, we pray, the grace to follow you, obey you, and love you with pure hearts through Christ Jesus, our precious Savior, Amen.

Risen and glorified Savior and Lord, pray for us, your humble people, that your Father in Heaven would look upon us with favor and forgive our many sins and misdeeds against your Triune majesty, that we might serve you and your Kingdom in the power of your resurrection now and forever more, Amen.

Exalted Father in Heaven above, we come before you this day confessing our great pride and haughtiness by which we think so highly of ourselves, but think so little of others—even you, the great God and King above all gods. We are ashamed at how we are often puffed up with arrogance and vainglory when we are nothing, and so we pray that you will forgive us. As we approach your holy presence, we are brought low by your chastening hand and humbled by your swift rebuke, but we thank you that, through your chastisement, you assure us that we are beloved children. So we pray that you would remove all guilt and sin from us, for the sake of Christ, who was truly humble in all he did, yet has now attained to the highest place in heaven and on earth. We pray that, through his blood and righteousness, and by his ceaseless intercession, we would be welcomed into your presence to fellowship and commune with you, the majestic God, high and lifted up, in whose strength we pray, Amen.

Mighty Lord, whose works adorn the universe, and whose love reaches out to all who have offended you: we confess that we have sinned against you, taking pride in our sin and shame. We have shown you contempt by seeking to serve ourselves and to worship idol gods, instead of walking in the redemption and rest to which you have called us. Forgive us for our terrible unfaithfulness, and do not take away from us the mercies which we have so often spurned. Restore us, we pray, through the perfect sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, and may we, this Sabbath, truly enter the rest that comes only through him, in whose name we pray, Amen.

Almighty God, we confess that we are inclined to all kinds of wickedness and are drawn away by the desires of the flesh. We follow so often the devices of Satan, your Archenemy, instead of following your holy commandments. Grant that we may learn to keep ourselves within the limits of your Word, and so restrain all the desires of our flesh and fight against the Devil’s wiles. May we go on in the good profession we have made, continuing our course to the end by your grace, holding firm by true and lively faith to Christ your Son, so that we will be found as members of that Eternal Kingdom which he has purchased for us by his own precious blood. Amen.

God, our Creator and Sustainer, you made us as your people, to be your agents and co-laborers over all that exists. We were created in the blessed image of the Triune Godhead, to be a community that shows the world who you truly are; you called us to love one another, pray for one another, and encourage one another. Yet, like our first parents, we have fought one another, betrayed one another, and showed contempt for one another in defiance of you. We ask that you would forgive our great sin against you and all other men, for the sake of Christ, whose love, prayers, and encouragement are the reason we live. Grant that you would fully restore your image in us, through him who is the very image of the invisible God in human flesh, that we might, with him and in him, be sons of God by your grace and to your glory. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
